Walking in Beauty takes Modulus Festival to new realms.

The cello, played by the indefatigable Anssi Karttunen, acts as a mediator between the ensemble and the deep-sea sounds … and the results are strikingly beautiful, sometimes discomfiting, and in the end profoundly elegiac.

The ensemble Variances under the baton of Thierry Pécou formed the most experimental point in the program. (...) The music became an all-encompassing spatial experience. Frenetic applause from the audience.

One of the evening's highlights is the performance of La Voie de la Beauté (engl.: Walking in Beauty) by the chamber ensemble Variances under the baton of the French composer, Thierry Pécou. (...) Variations of the tonal soundscapes, sequences and colours are intriguingly tested out and impressively echo as rhythmic mosaics within the resonating church.

Musique inventive et étonnamment familière, Sangata délivre un plaisir hédoniste et profond, que saluera le public d’une « standing ovation ».

À New Delhi, Thierry Pécou a composé une œuvre inédite en mêlant, par le dialogue, les traditions de musiciens hindoustanis et français. Sangata (« être ensemble ») sera interprété jeudi 29 mars à Grenoble pour le festival Détours de Babel.

La création à New Delhi de cette œuvre inédite de Thierry Pécou est le fruit de la volonté de plusieurs acteurs institutionnels et associatifs franco-indiens.

Outre-mémoire est ainsi une œuvre profondément personnelle et pourtant universelle, car elle évoque des questions fondamentales et toujours d’actualité sur la richesse et la pauvreté, l’exploitation et l’oppression... Sa dimension de rituel renforce l’aura du concert.

Certains écrivent des carnets de voyage. Thierry Pécou, lui, transforme ses pérégrinations en partitions.
